Biography

Maria Chiara began very young her career singing in theaters as Arena di Verona, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Opera di Roma, Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari and in prestigious festivals in France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland.

Among the main roles performed: L'Elisir d'amore, Don Pasquale, Lucia di Lammermoor (Donizetti), Rigoletto (Verdi), Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini), Cosi fan tutte, Le Nozze di Figaro (Mozart), Turandot (Puccini), Il telefono ( Menotti ), Fledermaus ( Strauss ).

 

At the Santa Cecilia Academy in Rome she performed Petrassi's Magnificat under the baton of M° Antonio Pappano, Orff's Carmina Burana with M° Meister and Urbanski; and Tan Dun’s “Water Passion” at the Thomaskirche in Leipzig for German Radio MDR, at the Tonhalle in Düsseldorf, at the Muziekegebow in Amsterdam, at Bozar in Brussels and at Shanghai Concert Hall conducted by the composer himself.

 

Maria Chiara Chizzoni was invited to perform “Water Passion” also in occasion of the new Greek National Opera (GNO) inauguration at Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC).

At the Theater de la Ville, during the Festival d'Automne in Paris, she sang "A floresta is jovem and cheia de vida" by Luigi Nono, and in the Baroque Festival in Noto the first modern performance of the oratorio "L'esaltazione di Mardocheo" by Geremia. She recorded for Chandos the Galuppi's "Messa per S. Marco", for Brilliant Classics the complete motets collection "Arion Romanus" by Carissimi and "L'esaltazione di Mardocheo" di Geremia, for MR Classics the "Missa Sancti Andreae Avellino" and Te Deum by Flavio Colusso.

 

Maria Chiara Chizzoni recently performed with M° Tan Dun and Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra in Nanjing   Forest Festival  (CHINA) and with Macao Symphony Orchestra and Tan Dun for the New Year Concert. 

 

In November 2018 She will perform with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Tan Dun’s “Buddha Passion” at the New Vision Arts Festival 2018 in Hong Kong.

 

Maria Chiara Chizzoni is soloist in residence of Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome.
